Description: Copy of a map with annotations added showing the proposed railway station layout. Station land bounded by Quay Street (harbour side), Breakwater Road and Beach Road (west), The Strand (south), and extends east to beyond Gladstone Road (Westfield line). Includes the proposed new main north line to Whangarei (crosses Beach Road and enters tunnel), and the existing northbound line passing over the Parnell Bridge at the junction of Stanley Street and Alpha Road. Buildings marked include: outward goods shed (near Kings Wharf, Auckland Farmers Freezing Co. and R & W Hellaby), future outward goods shed, inwards goods shed, repair shop, engine shed, car repair shed and machine shop. The Station building and four platforms are also marked, with the Beach Street frontage of the station having a roadway, large ornamental plot and car parking. Description: Military map showing operations from the Auckland Fort Britomart Albert barracks, south along the military route to Cambridge, Aratitaha and Tokanui, Waikato District. Depicts military blockhouses, redoubts and forts (five in the Waikato region and over eleven in South Auckland), stockages, routes used on garrison duty only, engagements, Maori pa and kainga and the confiscation boundary as gazetted 17/12/1864 including the aukati (frontier) line. Also shows mission stations Waipa and Taupiri and geographical features, most with Maori placenames. Identifies battle sites at several places including Hairini (22.2.64), Rangiaohia (21.2.64) Kihikihi and Orakau (2.4.64), Waiari (11.2.64) and in South Auckland including Hills Clearing (8.9.63), Koheroa (17.7.63), Meremere (1.11.63). Several Maori pa and kainga are named, including Tokanui, Te Kopua, Otawhao, Otautahanga. In the Waikato regions a similar number of both redoubts and pa sites are identified. [Charles?] Garlick, of Taneatua, dated 31 January 1928; a letter from A. R. Weal, of Pukeatua, Te Awamutu, dated 20 February 1930, which contains information about Te Awamutu Troop, Waikato Cavalry, provided by his father T. Weal; and a letter by George Graham [signed also as Hori Kereama], of Auckland, dated 11 March 1942. Graham's letter includes discussion relating to the legal status of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori participation in both World Wars, Kīngitanga, and Māori leadership. Description: Auckland Station yard (lot 3006) with adjacent land proposed to be added. Station yard is bounded by Quay St, Customs St East and Beach Road, Kings Drive and the harbour. It is crossed on the left by Breakwater Road, which runs from the Railway Wharf to the intersection of Customs St East, Fort St and Beach Road. The area of land proposed to be added to the Station yard is immediately to the right of the Railway Wharf. An area extending from the breakwater into the harbour and including a slip and shed is marked as proposed to be given up by Railways. An area of Auckland Harbour Board land at the intersection of Breakwater and Beach Roads is also highlighted; it includes a building marked John Burns and Co. lessee. Also highlighted is an area of reclaimed Auckland Harbour Board land bounded by the Railway yard and Kings Drive, with a building marked Winstone Limited, lessee.
