Description: A base planning map of Ahuriri Lagoon reclamation and proposed drainage and subdivisions has been used to show the proposed water supply and subdivision for the area of Napier from Napier Park, Greenmeadows to Te Ruru-o-Kuri Island and Bay View. An artesian well and substation are marked, as are pipes, house connections, scour valves, valves and proposed subdivision boundaries which are included in a reference key. Subdivisions are numbered. Description: Views of a trip along the Whanganui River with views of Paranui kainga (listed as Parinui in the album), showing groups of whare, groups of Maori, various activities in the kainga, canoes on the river, and many scenes of waterfalls along the river. These include Taraipokiore (or Tarei-po-Kiore), Otuitu Falls, Ohura Falls, Kakahi Falls. The "Ladder scene", copy of Denton photograph, and other views of the Whanganui River and Ohura River. There is a gap in the album, followed by a separate sequence on Napier. These images include panoramic views of Napier from various locations, church buildings (including exterior and interior views of St John's Cathedral), hotel buildings and other public buildings and memorial statues. Description: Collection of lantern slides of New Zealand and Australia compiled ca 1919 by Mildred Leo Clemens. Most of the slides are New Zealand views, mainly taken by the New Zealand Government Tourist Department in Hawke's Bay, the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, the thermal district, and Milford Sound. A number of the Hawke's Bay views were taken by Horace Spence Cottrell. Includes farming scenes. Also includes 74 slides of Australia mainly from the Department of Stock & Agriculture, Queensland. Comprises city scenes; views of crops including pineapple, bananas, hay, corn, strawberries; views of sheep, dairy, and meat industries; and flora and fauna, including emu, koala, kangaroo, and birds. Description: "Illustrating geological formations, Vol 2". Black & white photographs showing the geology and geomorphology of the Rotorua area, taken while George Leslie Adkin was attending a New Zealand Geological Survey Staff Conference, May 9-22, 1948. Includes images of a thermal spring at Ohaki (near Rotorua), the Hinemaiai Stream; Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira, aerial views of the Tongariro volcanic complex showing Mt Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe with the Waco plane used for the flights; the Tikitere thermal area; Lake Rotoiti; the ignimbrite gorge of the Waikato River at the Maraetai dam site; Whakarewarewa; Maggie Papakura's house at Tuhoromatakaka, Whakarewarewa. He later visited Napier and Hastings (Sept 3-7, and 15-20, 1948), and has images showing Napier City; the shingle beach at the breakwater, Napier; Ahuriri Bluff, and the Manawatu Gorge. On Sept 9th 1948 he took photographs of the Wellington Peninsula from Parkvale Road to Mt Kaukau, and from Mt Kaukau showing the Wellington City hill system and its topographical features.
