Description: Invitation card showing a lion and British and New Zealand flags at the top, portraits in the top corners of King Edward VII and his wife Princess Alexandra of Denmark; motifs of rata and clematis flowers and a tui; scenes of Mitre Peak (left) and Mt Cook (right). Below these are portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York (later George V and Queen Mary). Under the text is a scene of Wellington Harbour, with the New Zealand coat of arms. Below the central text panel are the New Zealand and British flags, and four vignettes: Lake Taupo and Ruapehu, Whakarewarewa, Milford Sound and Mt Cook. An independent source gives the artist as Robert H Hawcridge (1867-1920). The signature appears faintly below the image of Whakarewarewa. Other Titles - His Majesty's Ministers for New Zealand request the honor of the presence of [Mr and Mrs G N Goldie] to witness the ceremony...by Their Royal Highnesses. Description: Invitation shows four vignettes (of Wellington Harbour, Lyttelton Harbour, Auckland Harbour, and Port Chalmers Harbour), inset portraits of Their Majesties, and figures of a European soldier and a Maori chief. The British crest is at top centre. Two copies of this work at this reference number. Each differs slightly, one having been printed with slightly larger, heavier dots of colour, giving a darker overall effect (easily studied through a strong magnifying glass).
