Description: "Annals of the Tararua Range, Vol 3", photographs no. 283-449, supplementary to the 3 MS foolscap volumes held in Manuscripts and Archives. Photographs include preparations for the construction of the Waiopehu Hut, and views of Mt Waiopehu, in 1927, and the opening of the hut (4 March 1928), with named members of the Levin-Waiopehu Tramping Club, Tararua Tramping Club, and various dignitaries. Discovery of a prehistoric artifact, the Waiopehu flint knife, found 4 February 1928; botanical visit to Mt Waiopehu, images of plant life, February 1928; excursion to the headwaters of the Mangahao River and first ascent of Mt Dora; topography of the Wellington Peninsula, Tararua offshoot, April 1928; ascent of Mt Wainui, April 1928. Visit to Oriwa Lake-Hollow via Mt Waiopehu including the summit of Mt Waiopehu and upper part of its north-leading ridge with Horowhenua lowland in distance. Winter visit to Mt Hector track, August 1928; longitudinal traverse from Otaki Forks to Ohau Valley via Waitatapia River, Oriwa Ridge & Mt Waiopehu, and ascent of Mt Crawford, October 1928.
