Description: View of the Big River Battery at the gold mining settlement called Big River in the Buller District. The battery is left of centre. An aerial tramway delivering quartz from the mine to the battery is above. Buildings immediately left of the battery building are a blacksmith's shop and workshop. The small building in line with the battery is the assay room. There is a cyanide plant at left, with sands from the battery awaiting cyanide treatment in the foreground.
