Description: During crash testing of a safety slip-base road lighting pole newly developed by Brimac Industries of Porirua during a demonstration for Auckland Regional Authoriry engineers, at the Porirua Harbour reclamation, 16 July 1970. The V8 car used in the test was driven by a company director Mr Peter MacDonald. Photographed by an unidentified staff photographer for the Evening Post. Description: In eight frames, an Auckland Regional Authority transport committee meets to make suggestions for the transport problems facing Auckland. 'What we need Mr Chairman is revolutionary thinking.' They proceed to describe the old system of trams and ferries - 'Perhaps something running on rails, with wooden seats, powered by electricity, that go clang! clang!, connecting with a network of coal-burning ferries to the Shore.' The last frame shows the city at night with discussions still going on in the ARA building, 'By Jove, I think we're on to something.' Quantity: 1 original cartoon(s).
