Description: Loose papers relating to The Road to Whangara [book] includes notes relating to East Coast Maori history, place names and whakapapa. Includes correspondence from H Te Kani Te Ua relating to Ngati Kanohi whakapapa [typewritten copy of letter] and an incomplete draft of a letter by Fowler written on The Remuera Book Exchange letterhead, which names Fowler as the proprietor and is dated 1976. Two black and white photographic prints one of a group of Maori sitting on a shady bank by a car with an unidentified Maori woman in the foreground, and the photograph is of three Maori men inside a carved meeting house iwth microphones, so possibly being recorded for a broadcast.

Also includes a copy of typescript `The Storehouse of Hine-mati-oro' also known as 'Te Rakau Tamatea Reke' (p.1 & 4 only); several East Coast genealogies or whakapapa relating to Te Kooti Riki Rangi, Ngati Ira and Ngati Porou. Also an article: `On some Maori place names'; and an outline for `The Road to Whangara'. Also includes a 5 page manuscript [written in an unknown hand] of various versions of the Ngati Kahungunu oriori 'Pinepine te kura', one version is attributed to Te Kooti Rikirangi.
