Description: Original caption: "Empty homes - State houses in Pomare [Lower Hutt] are not attracting enough tennants". An aerial view of state houses in Pomare, Lower Hutt Housing New Zealand rentals were being undercut by the private sector. This meant that they could not tennant all their housing stock. Low income families were also moving to cheaper private accommodation. As a result HNZ stated that it would cut rents by 14 percent. Also includes some papers relating to Abe Wharekawa, the Black Power gang, a building project and papers seeking funding for a 1990 project relating to the writing of Maori biographies. Also includes a copy of Maori Rock Drawing: The Theo Schoon Interpretations published by the Robert McDougall Art Gallery (annotated - probably by Alan Taylor) with three black and white prints of the Takiroa Rock Shelter on a piece of cardboard. Also includes two pages of handwritten drafts for an article titled `Nga Atua Maori: Maori Gods' which includes a drawing of a godstick and a picture of rainbow labelled Kahukura, and a draft article relating to Oceanic canoes and Maori waka, including pencil drawings of tauihu and rapa (taurapa).
