Description: Double-sided poster relates details of a 1948 tran-Tasman project by two scientists at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIRO) in Sydney, John Bolton and New Zealand-born Gordon Stanley. The two men worked at Piha, sourcing cosmic noise using a Yagi antenna, and were the first in the world to idnetify the origin of radio waves from outside out solar system. Description: Chromolithograph design for a Christmas card for Auckland City Council shows kiwi on either side holding up a coat of arms. At top centre is a circular castellation with a flax plant growing out of it. A scroll beneath the coat of arms carries the word "Advance". It is not certain if this design was used for the Auckland City Council's Christmas card. Leslie Rykers was 18 years old in 1915.
