Description: Images of the construction of a coal mining railroad and its early use including the hydraulic brake for the no. 1 incline, the 17-span viaduct, the changing flat where tubs are transferred to the no.2 incline, tunnel mouths etc. Two of the photographers are identified as James Ring (1/4-015594) and Henry Thomas Lock (1/4-015598). Identified by a researcher as Paparoa Coal Company mine at Roa, above Blackball. Arrangement: Negatives at 1/4-15590 to 15599, 15629 to 15634, 15638 to 15640, 1/1-07745 to 07748, 07751 to 07752.
