Description: A base map, Plan of Section 23 Ngarara, Kaitawa S.D. Block III, near Waikanae, has been used to name fields belonging to the Elder family farm. Boundaries of the fields are marked on the base map with acreages and a few include the name H. Elder. The site of the Elder family home is marked. The property has the Waikanae River, Wellington and Manawatu Railway, and the Hutt-Waikanae Road as boundaries. A sum total of acreages was handwritten on the base map, Other names of landowners included are C.C.H., W.H. Field, Beachams. Title handwritten on reverse of map Waimahoe is the name of N.L. Description: Survey map of proposed fishermen's reserve in Waikanae, comprising 11 one acre lots adjoining two proposed roads, south-east of the Waikanae River and parallel to the ocean. Surrounding the proposed reserve is Kapiti III block, no. 74, 63-6. The river's path to the ocean, a temporary channel, existing bank, bank protection and proposed diversion also shown. The Estate of Hannah Field and the property of W H Field are named. Stamp at bottom right: L&S series 11, sub-no. 25. Description: Map of water levels between Hadfield Station and the coast, a distance of 1 mile 62.30 chains, with data taken 100 feet below the railway (at site of Hadfield Railway Station westwards toward coast). Hadfield Station was situated between Waikanae and Te Horo and closed in 1906. A note at the coastal end of the survey states 'The fall from here to sea beach is fully 10 feet, so that total fall must be about 50 feet from rly line to sea level'. Title handwritten on verso Scales are as follows: Horizontal scale 3 chains to an inch - scale [1:2 376]. Description: Cadastral map of Ngarara West 'A' with survey markings, bounded by the Waikanae River and the Wellington-Manawatu Railway, the coastline and northwards to include Kukutauaki land block no. 1. Shows numbered sections on Ngarara Road and Te Moana Road, with acreage and owner's name where known. Also shows Native (Maori) land, sanctuary for native and imported game; Waikanae Park and cemetery, whare cultivation, Rau o te rangi. Several streets on the beach front are named. Gives topographical information, areas of bush, manuka and flax swamps. Land owners include: William Hughes Field, William Geoffrey Hughes Field, Isabel Jane Field, Isabel Hughes Field, John Hughes Field. Roads are marked and the right of road along the river bank. Includes a small cadastral area which is the settlement of Waikanae Beach, with named streets. Numbered sections with acreages include names, the majority of which are William Hughes Field and Isabel Jane Field. Other names are Wi Parata, William Geoffrey Hughes Field, John Hughes Field.
