Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. The last slide showing the Lindis Pass was taken by Neville Hatwell. This sheet shows parts of Christchurch including the Cathedral, Cathedral Square, the Avon River and the statue of Robert Falcon Scott; the Rakaia River; a signpost on the road to Mount Cook; Lake Pukaki; Mount Sefton from the road; the Hermitage hotel; views of Mount Cook from the Hermitage; a group of people looking up the glaciers in the Tasman valley; a mountain daisy and a Mount Cook lily; and the Lindis Pass. The slides are not in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks. Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of New Zealand images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. Several of these were taken by Neville Hatwell. This sheet shows Queenstown Lakes District, and Milford. Views include Queenstown; the Remarkables in the evening with the launch 'Moana' moored at a pier on Lake Wakatipu in the foreground; Lake Manapouri; Te Anau township; the Eglinton Valley and Hollyford Valley, both taken by Neville Hatwell; portal of the Homer Tunnel, and views the other side en route to Milford Sound, including Mount Tutoko and the Cleddau River; the Milford Track; views of the Sound, Sutherland Falls, Lake Ada, Sandfly Point and Sinbad Gully; and the Milford Sound airstrip with a small plane on the runway. Description: Slides relating to the Lutheran Church of New Zealand, chiefly taken circa 1950s-1960s by unidentified photographers. Contains slides of Lutheran Church buildings around New Zealand. These include interior and exterior shots of churches in Dannevirke, Marton, Halcombe, Mauriceville West, Upper Moutere, Crummer Road (Grey Lynn), Christchurch, Hamilton, and Palmerston North, as well as manse in Palmerston North and Auckland. Some church locations are unidentified. Reverend N Shultz is photographed with members of Hamilton's Estonian community in traditional dress and there are images of unidentified congregants. Miscellaneous images include Mrs Eckert playing cricket, a cake stall, Auckland Museum exterior, and scenic shot of Mount Lyttle (photographed by N Hatwell). Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand between 1958 and 1959, and his return voyage to England aboard the Corinthic. This sheet of slides has two sections. The first 6 images relate to his voyage home with views of Fort Nassau and Willemstad in Curacao, and distant views of the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. The second section shows purchased slides of New Zealand. These include some from a set of Maori images and New Zealand plants produced by "Kiwi Colour Slides" and one of pohutukawa flowers taken by N. Hatwell. Subjects listed above. Slides on this sheet are numbered 699-722 with gaps for nos. 705, 707-709 which were removed for lectures on New Zealand when he returned home to England. Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 705, 707-709), purchased slides showing a Maori poi dance, plaiting flax, Maori cloaks and a Maori carver for his representative collection on New Zealand used in a lecture series when he returned to England. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand, some purchased and some taken by Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams'). Purchased slides (nos. 953-954) were taken by [Neville] Hatwell. Slides include images of the Russell Post office, Otehei Bay with the ferry launch "Kewpie Too", and views of the Bay of Islands from the sea including igneous (basalt) rocks. Purchased views of Kaiteriteri Beach and Nelson Harbour; cars in snow at Porters Pass; view of Auckland from Mt Eden; aerial views of Mc Kinnon Pass, Sutherland Falls and crater on Mt Ngauruhoe; then views of Whanganui and the Whanganui River, Kaikoura town, Dunedin and the Shotover River. Slides on this sheet are numbered 947-971, with nos. 955-960, 962 removed for Mr Williams lecture series. These are filed in a separate sequence. Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams'). The first slide shows the house at 48 Hume Street, Crows Nest, Sydney owned by friends of Mr Williams. The next group are taken from a published guide to the Tarawera eruption, some showing the area before the eruption and one of the effects after the eruption. The following slides show scenes on the West Coast and Canterbury. Many relate to geological and rock formations, including Punakaiki pancake rocks, a sample of orbicular granite at Karamea and a high terrace at Karamea, rocks in the sea at Scotts Bay, cliffs on the Rakaia River, and moraine at Franz Josef Glacier. There are also images of white rata, cows heading to milking and on pasture, and a butter factory in Christchurch. The last two images were taken by Neville Hatwell, one of the Tasman Glacier from the air, and one of the road over the Crown range. Slides on this sheet are numbered 746-897, with nos. 756 to 825 (all on Australia) removed for a lecture series which Mr Williams gave when he returned to England. Those removed are filed in a later sequence. Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 898-899, 901, 903, 905, and 921-922) to create representative collections on New Zealand and Australia which he used in lecture series on his return to England. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand, some purchased and some taken by Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams'). Purchased slides (nos. 923, 926-930) were taken by [Neville] Hatwell. Slides include images of Skippers Gorge, pampas grass near Whangarei, Mount Tarawera from Lake Rotomaha, a sunset off the Scilly Isles (showing a "sun pillar"), views of Auckland buildings and parks, the Treaty House at Waitangi, the Stone Store at Kerikeri, Cooper's Beach, and a scene near Whangaroa. The last six views were taken in the Bay of islands, some showing farmland owned by Mr Williams' friends the Woods family. These were taken from the cream launch which visits outlying areas, one view showing passengers on the launch and Russell from the launch. Slides on this sheet are numbered 923-946.
