Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Walter Dalziel; brief history of the farm and family; marriage certificate for Christopher Dalziel and Mary Anne Wighton, 1866; photographs (see below). The original owner of the land at Tuapeka West (later known as Braewick farm) was Christopher Dalziel who bought 100 acres in 1874. In the 1890s a further 630 acres were acquired. In 2005 the property was owned by Walter Dalziel, with his son Hamish being actively involved in the farm. Awarded the New Zealand Century Farm and Station award to mark over 100 years of continuous ownership by one family. Quantity: 1 folder(s). (Paris, 1833), portraits 3,5 and 6, and therefore show Ekara, young girl of the Bay of Islands, and Tawiti and his wife. Tawiti's wife holds a baby wrapped in her cloak by her shoulder. Description: Comprise Meade's journals on the Esk and Curacao, botanical, biological, meteorological and and scientific observations, sandal wood, and the journal of a tour from Auckland to Taranaki 1849-1850 by Governor Grey Source of title - Transcribed Brenchley first visited the Pacific in 1850 with the French traveller, Jules Remy, during his American tour. He later visited New Zealand in 1864 with Lt Herbert Meade RN, and involved himself in Maori affairs. From Sydney he visited Pacific islands in the Curacoa in 1865 and the Esk in 1866. Description: Early cadastral map of Whangarei land blocks, including Owhiwa, Tamatarau, Kaiwha, Waikare and Whanui. The Tamatarau and Kaiwha blocks are sub-divided into numbered lots. Several Native Reserves are named Waimahanga, Pakikaukutu, Taranui, Kahaha and Taiharuru; one is unnamed. 'Native land' blocks are named Ruriwai and Waikaraka; another is 'claimed by Tirarau'. One block is named Kohinui, 442 acres. In the Kaiwha block, lot 71 is named Kakuia, 267 acres. The named settler blocks are Edward Dent, Gorries claim, Hay's claim, Soott and Brown. The remaining land is not surveyed. Some pencil annotations have been added to the map, naming areas in the Whanui block 'Te Ruatepapa', 'Te Hauku' and 'Herematai'; as well as numerical survey markings. Some writing on the back on the map is indecipherable. Due to tears in map, a small amount of text is indecipherable. Other Titles - Tamaterau Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s).
