Entries 1 May 1840-24 May 1844 concern the mission at Waikouaiti, established at the behest of J Jones, difficulties of mission work compounded by the proximity of a whaling and trading settlement. Entries 28 May 1844-1 Nov 1847 cover his years in Wellington, pastoral work with Maori and Europeans. Mar 1850 concerns Watkin's work as a Methodist minister in Sydney. Entries vary from three or more per week to monthly. (No entries for period Nov 1847-Mar 1855. Quantity: 2 volume(s) (633 leaves).
