He purchased the company building and contents which included company plans and records. Quantity: 362 map(s) Mine plans. Physical Description: Manuscript plans. Sizes vary and some fragile. Finding Aids: Catalogue created by John Barry and John Taylor.. Provenance: John Barry was a student at the Otago Mines School and specialised in mining plans. He contacted Mr Porter who had the plans stored in his backyard coalshed. Mr Porter gave them to John Barry who brought them to the Hocken Library around 1968.

Description: A list of photographs taken around the Buller area, from Westport to Inangahua, Reefton and south of Charleston It is not certain whether the photographs referred to were taken by Hodgkins himself or not, although there is no evidence in the sketchbook of his visiting areas like Inangahua and Reefton. It seems more probable that he purchased photographs of the area, while in Westport. He refers in an earlier drawing in this sketchbook to a photograph of Fiordland taken by the Burton Brothers The first photograph mentioned may be a copy of the photograph 'Gold claim, Addison's Flat' reference number PA1-q-069-02-2 Quantity: 1 holograph.
