Description: Sketch map of the coast from an unidentified river south of Orowaiti (River) extending as far north as Kongahu Point Island. Other features marked on the map (south to north) are: Wareatia (River); Waimangaroa (River); Ngakuwaho (Ngakawau River) with mussel beds; Mokinui (Mokihinui River); mussel beds; Kongahu Point Island. Description: Plans and longitudinal sections from surface of mines. Geographically referenced. Gore Porter was the Secretary for the Consolidated Goldfields Company when the company was liquidated. He purchased the company building and contents which included company plans and records. Quantity: 362 map(s) Mine plans. Physical Description: Manuscript plans. Sizes vary and some fragile. Finding Aids: Catalogue created by John Barry and John Taylor.. Provenance: John Barry was a student at the Otago Mines School and specialised in mining plans. He contacted Mr Porter who had the plans stored in his backyard coalshed. Mr Porter gave them to John Barry who brought them to the Hocken Library around 1968.

Description: Sketch map of the coast in the vicinity of Little Wanganui River and Karamea. At the far southend of the map is an area marked `Otahu hills'; to the north of which is a river `Turipohu [?]'. Further north is the [Little] Wanganui River, and Karamea and Oparara, both surrounded by mud flats. At the north end of the map is an area marked `mussels'. Inland tracks are indicated at Otahu hills and around the mud flats to the south of Karamea, at the end of which is a whare. Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Physical Description: Ink, 90 x 230 mm
