Description: Maps identifies mission stations, station outposts and religious frontier posts. These have been annotated in coloured pen to distinguish religious groups, for example Church Mission (Society Anglican), Wesleyan Missionary Society, Roman Catholic Mission, Prebyterian Mission and North German Missionary Society. The most prominent group is the Church Missionary Society and then the Catholic Society. The mission stations are most dense in the Auckland region and the upper North Island. In contrast, there are no inland stations in the entire South Island. The enlargement (29 x 72 cm) shows the most dense section of mission stations, between Bay of Islands and the Hokianga harbour and north up to Kaitaia and Whangaroa. Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Gerald Francis Langford; detailed history of the family and farm; land documents; photographs The original owner of the land was John Alfred Langford (b 1815) who acquired 75 acres at Long Plain Road, 5 km south of Takaka in 1872. A year later he passed joint ownership to his sons Robert Young Langford and Arthur Edward Langford. Arthur became sole owner in 1880.
