Description: Four maps that are part of the 1962 Oroua County district scheme, including one each of the Halcombe, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst townships and one of the entire Oroua County. The three township maps show zoning, reserves, recreation areas, water, railways, streets, and district boundaries. The Oroua County map annotations identify zoning, reserves, recreation areas, water, railways, streets, district boundaries, hospitals and community buildings, and are colour-coded to the reference sheet; other annotations name schools, halls and cemeteries. A small group show the area around Alfredton, with a timber mill, several types of saw, and teams of horses transporting logs. Description: The papers reflect his widespread interests based on landholdings in the various areas of Porirua, Plimmerton, Pauatahhanui, Palmerston North, Bunnythorpe and Wellington itself, where he appears to have owned the site leased by Kirkcaldie & Co, among others. Their most useful reference is to individuals settled throughout the Pauatahanui area and to general community development in which Bradey was involved - school and library committees, local sports groups, the A & P Association, and on the larger scene the Wellington Education Board and the Wellington Harbour Board. As an influential local landholder, his support appears to have been constantly solicited by campaigning Wellington politicians. The papers span the period 1863-1898, although the items prior to 1883 are very slight Frederick Bradey emigrated to New Zealand with his father Francis Bradey in 1840 on the Adelaide and took up his own land at Pauatahanui in 1855 Quantity: 9 folder(s).
