Description: Photograph album of New Zealand and Pacific Island scenes. Most were taken by George Dobson Valentine, in the North Island of New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, and Tahiti; a few were taken by the Burton Brothers in the South Island. Within the New Zealand scenes there are a large number of views inside and out of the Waitomo Caves; and another group show the area around Lake Rotomahana with the Pink and White Terraces before and after the 1886 eruption of Mount Tarawera. Album of photographs of a journey in Canada

Description: The first and largest section of this album records a trip in Canada and possibly the United States, made by a young man with a motor car about 1923. The second section are photographs taken on a visit to possibly Hawaii or Tahiti. Local people are recorded as well as a number of yachts tied up along the waterfront of a town, and a white warship. The third section include family photographs taken in Britain in the 1890s, and several shipboard views, two of which show what are probably crossing the line ceremonies involving a canvas swimming pool. Towards the end of the album a group of family photographs are associated with a large wooden New Zealand house. There is no information with the album Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).

On page 15 there is an article written by James Edge-Partington "Note on a stone battle-axe from New Zealand" (held in the British Musem), taken from an anthropological journal (new series, Vol. II). Most of the images show idols, images, wooden figures, and wood-carving. Some figures from New Ireland are carved in chalk. Information below each photograph gives the type of figure, the country from which they come, and height in feet and inches.
