Description: Leaves detached from 3 different sketchbooks, showing coastal profiles of Three Kings Island, a head to the north of Bream Head, the Pokohinau (or Mokohinau) Islands, Wellington Heads, Great Barrier Island and Fanal Island Chalmer came to New Zealand, to Great Barrier Island, on behalf of the Abercrombie Company in April 1845, aboard the brig Tryphena. The Tryphena was travelling from Sydney to Liverpool via Great Barrier Island The collection of drawings is accompanied by a letter written in Melbourne in 1860 to Edward Chalmer: My dear Sir, Very many thanks for your very kind sketches sent herewith.
