Description: View of Canterbury College taken from intersection of Worcester Street and Rolleston Avenue, Christchurch looking south-east. There is ivy growing on the lower wall of the hall. The building is enclosed by a fence and neatly trimmed hedge. The deciduous trees in the grounds of the college and in the immediate foreground are without their leaves. Description: Album of photographs taken by Albert Lyndsay McKenzie, showing Haywards substation, Centennial Exhibition, Union Airways aircraft at Rongotai airport, and views of war memorials, other monuments, some buildings and parks and gardens in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. There are also some scenic views of rivers and landscape, and one photograph of bee keepers at work on hives. Albert Lyndsay McKenzie, the father of the donor, was born in Christchurch. Description: Contains photographs relating to Christine Cole Catley's student years at New Plymouth Girls' High School (1946-1940) and Canterbury University College (1941-1944). Photographs taken by unknown and various commercial photographers (see names list) between 1936 and 1944, with one image possibly taken ca.1950. Images relating to New Plymouth Girls' High School consist of group portraits of students, including three basketball teams with Catley Canterbury University College images include portraits of Catley with friends and by herself. Also: informal socialising; a float of the `HMS Neverbudge - New Zealand's Last Hope', probably from a capping parade; movie billboard for `I married a witch' (1942) which has been altered to read `I married a bitch'; and formal portrait of the student executive of which Catley was a member. Another set of photographs relate to the University's Drama Society, including images of cast onstage and backstage dressed in Victorian costume. One photograph shows the cast and crew of `Othello' (ca.1944), including Catley, producer Ngaio Marsh and composer Douglas Lilburn, with beer bottles and mugs. Another shows Marsh and the Canterbury Student Players, possibly about to depart on an Australian tour.
