Also includes a 5 page manuscript [written in an unknown hand] of various versions of the Ngati Kahungunu oriori 'Pinepine te kura', one version is attributed to Te Kooti Rikirangi. Description: Various papers relating to Maori history and culture. Includes Maori concert programmes, papers on Maori land ownership of Mangatu (blocks 1, 3 and 4), pounamu or greenstone manufacture and types of stone, a pamphlet about Te Porere battle site, a letter to Bruce Mason [editor of Te Ao Hou] about an article Fowler was planning about the Hui Topu and notes from recordings from "Takipu and Mangatu huis" 1958, and various waiata including some by Arnold Reedy from 1935. Also some papers relating to Maori plant names and a letter from Bernard Teague of Wairoa. Also includes a photograph of a Maori carving and a satirical poem "Let's cook the Maori". Description: Papers relating to the Annual Maori [Cultural] Competitions in Gisborne including correspondence relating to the Maori performing arts competitions and also the "Hui Topu". Includes the souvenir programmes for 1959-1963, and 1973, also a 1958 programme for "Hui Topu" [written in Maori]. Also includes a photograph of a horse-drawn carriage in front of the clock tower in Gisborne, with two unidentified women and one man [the driver] in the carriage, ca 1960. The photograph has the inscription: "With love & best wishes always Gigie [?] Lloyd". Language - Hui Topu pamphlet is in Maori. Quantity: 1 folder(s).
