Ski lodge for the Skyline Ski Club, Mount Ruapehu

Date: [ca 1955]-1963

From: McKenzie, Roy Allan (Sir), 1922-2007: Photographs

Reference: PA1-f-323

Description: The place is Mount Ruapehu and the opening photograph is a view of the mountain. Most of the album is a record of the building of a ski lodge by the Snowline Ski Club sometime in the 1950s. This is explicitly stated in a newspaper caption under a picture of the completed lodge. At some time the club may have considered calling itself the Skyline Ski Club as there are two group photographs at the beginning of the album that have a man holding a sign on which is written "Skyline S C site." The images show men working on the foundations of the lodge, the finished building, and a gathering at what is proably the opening of the lodge. One colour print dated 1963 shows galvanised iron cladding being put onto the roof. Source of title - Title supplied by Library Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).
