Description: Monument commemorating those who died in Te Rauparaha's attack on Kaiapohia Pa in 1831. The monument was erected in 1898 on the original Pa site by Canon Stack. Photograph taken by William A Price circa 1910s Other - Note on back of file print reads "Kaiapohia a site. Te Rauparaha massacre" Source of descriptive information - Library client supplied information that Charles Kidson carved the figure on the top of the memorial. Information recieved 5 January 2007. Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - Maori monument near Rangiora. No. 3370 Charles Kidson of the Christchurch Art School carved the figure on the top of the memorial.
