Description: A hydrographic chart sketching the entrance of the Tauranga Harbour, depicting the path of the ship 'Fanny', around Mount Maunganui and Waikouai, with full sounding information. Identifies fortified pa site named 'Tumaitai Pa', the accompanying diagram depicts six whare or houses, and two tree-like storage huts. On the other side of the water, text reads 'the chief of this place anutra (sic)'; text on water reads 'going to Tomonalap (sic) Pa'. Denotes several sentences of text on geographical features, hydrographic detail and information on safe entrance and exit to the harbour. Catalogue card: 'Made by Thomas Wing in the schooner Fanny. Shows tracks, navigations notes.' Note on map reads 'Copied from a rough tracing belonging to Mr Wyld, May 12, 1841.' Note on map reads: 'The Fanny's track into Tauronga (sic) June 1835 south by compass from the Mayor Island.'
