Description: Shows a view of the buildings of a sheep station, with its red-roofed homestead and outbuildings set amongst trees in rolling farmland, with snow-covered Mounts Ruapehu and Tongariro in the distance. In the left foreground several sheep graze on a grassy slope. Accompanied by backing board which gives the title. A version in oils, 600 x 1050 mm, signed and undated for sale at Watson's auction, Christchurch, 18 May 2010, lot 265. The oil includes a group of cabbage trees in the left foreground; otherwise almost identical Dating: another watercolour in the Library's collection of the interior of Ruanui homestead (C-162-002) is dated 1918 by the artist, suggesting a visit to the Station at that date, and possible commissioning by the owner, J F Studholme, of several views of the Station by the artist Related views: two further watercolours of the house and garden, undated, sold at International Art Centre, Auckland, March 2012.
