Description: Shows rotting shell of a large tree trunk, with a tree stump to the left and dense bush behind, including a tree-fern. Probably painted on or near the artist's farm at Huangarua, between Greytown and Martinborough in the Wairarapa, although it could also be a Wellington or Hutt Valley scene. The land is flat and there are no identifying hills visible. Attribution based on style. Attributed to W.Mein Smith by previous owners as well. Other Titles - Bush scene Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour 298 x 207 mm (sight) Provenance: Purchased by Dr Neville Hogg from McKearney's Auction, Hastings, 16 May 1975, with title 'Bush scene' [information from backing board, now discarded].
