Description: Shows still water in the gorge between rocky banks. Attributed by vendor to James Crowe Richmond. Known to the family of the vendor as "Mokau River", despite pencilled note on verso: 'Wairoa Gorge by J C Richmond'. Richmond also visited and drew the Wairau Gorge, Marlborough, in 1864. This view may be of the Wairau Gorge. Dated from other dated works by Richmond, depicting the same region.
