Description: Topographical map of coast line and inland country of Taranaki between the Patea and Mokau Rivers. Relief shown by hachures. Shows river names and place names and old maori clearing. Route taken shown as red line. Shows a boundary line between the provinces of Wellington and Taranaki. Note in upper left hand corner provides information on identifying the route taken by the exploring party. Inscriptions: Recto - top centre - Cheals exploration from Mountain Road - now Stratford - eastwards to head waters of the Waitora & Mime rivers in 1875 Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Physical Description: Ink and pencil and watercolour on paper, backed, coloured, 67.9 x 53.5 cm. Provenance: Originally held as part of the George Conrad Petersen Collection which was broken up upon his death.
