Description: Two blocks from the town plan of Hastings bounded by Railway Road, Queen, King and Heretaunga streets. The ground plans of all the buildings in the blocks are depicted with comments relating to the eathquake damage they have sustained. This plan is from an album of plans and photographs relating to buildings damaged in the Hawke's Bay earthquake. The album was compiled by the Council of Fire and Accident Underwriters Associations of New Zealand. The photographic and other information was gathered from the 3rd to the 10th of February 1931. On the far right is the head office of the Auckland Harbour Board; all in Quay Street. On the left new concrete piles are being driven into the harbour bed. In the foreground workmen are replacing wooden blocks on the old wharf. Description: Photograph of the Hawke's Bay Farmers Cooperative Association's garage at 206 Queen Street, Hastings. Photographed by James Henry Daroux at some time between the 3rd and 10th of February 1931. Inscriptions: Album page - beneath image - Hakes Bay Farmers Garage. East wall badly cracked. Parapet cracked. Can be reinstated. The entry in Wises Post Office Directory for 1928 states that this garage specialsed in servicing Buick automobiles.
