This is a variation or pastiche of the Cinderella story. Original drawing for the cartoon published in the Dominion, 5 June 1975. Description: This privately printed family history details the lives of William Asher (1832-1918) who arrived in Otago on the Alpine in 1859 a penniless assisted immigrant and ultimately employed over a thousand men at his sawmills on Stewart Island and in Southland. He and his wife Eliza are commerated in the Asher windows in the First Presbyterian Church, Invercargill. Their son Rev John Alexander Asher, Presbyterian minister at Gore and Napier, became Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand in 1919. The book also has chapters on Jessie Asher, Joseph Asher, Joseph Hargreaves, Lisette Hargreaves, Innes Asher, professor John Alexander Asher, Josiah Waller, Helen Jane Waller (Mrs Helen Begovich), Monica Asher, Raynor Asher, Dr Innes Asher (Mrs Innes Champion), Gavin Asher, and John Alexander Asher (V).
