Description: Panoramic view of the Waitomo Caves Hostel (centre left). Three-storeyed with an octagonal turret and attic rooms to the left and a walkway leading to a fire-escape ladder. There are decorative palings around the verandahs on the two lower storeys and there are flower beds at the base. Part of the building on the left appears to be of earlier construction, in a different style. There are several people on the verandah or seated on steps by the front entrance on the right. A large parking area has a monkey puzzle tree in a circular bed in the centre, and a stone fence behind. There is a car (number plate 77-633) parked near the edge of the parking space with the driver standing alongside. Photograph taken by Robert Percy Moore.
