Description: Wf class steam locomotive (NZR no. 386) and railway workers, photographed at the Petone Railway Workshops by Albert Percy Godber. Note on back of file print reads "Builder = NZR Addington (maker no 66/05). Date in service - 22/9/1905. Written off 10/1958 - preserved. Note on back of file print reads "WF 386 - the longest surviving engine (Parliamentary Special) from the section between Taihape & Mangaweka Viaduct. Now is at Steam Incorporated, Paekakariki awaiting overhaul (Dec 1999). Quantity: 1 b&w original negative(s). Physical Description: Dry plate glass negative 6.5 x 4.75 inches

Description: O Class steam locomotive NZR 99, 2-8-0 type, with two railway men (J Walsh sitting on the front of the engine, and Frank Joseph Golder standing near the back). Photograph taken circa 1921 at Cross Creek by Albert Percy Godber. Names of men from Godber Album vol 108, p 36; date and location from 'Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives' by A N Palmer & W W Stewart, p 56. Other - Original print at Pa1-q-101 (Godber album vol 108, p 36) Source of descriptive information - Full name and life dates of F Golder provided by family member. Dated 1921 assuming F Golder was approximately 40 years old at the time the photograph was taken, and in relation to the fact the locomotive was written off in 1922. O class locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia; went into service in January 1886, and was written off in May 1922. Description: A class locomotive (NZR Number 161), with two men standing beside, one of whom is the photographer himself, leaning against the locomotive, on the right. Photographed taken by A P Godber, probably at Addington workshops, Christchurch. Source of descriptive information - Formerly described as being at Petone, but information from Library client states this locomotive never operated in the North Island and the location is probably the Addington workshops. NZR locomotive no. 161 (4-6-2) was built by New Zealand Railway Workshops at Addington, Christchurch, in 1906, and was sold in 1964. Description: Steam locomotive 492, Wg class, type 4-6-4T, built by NZR Hillside. Three railway employees stand on the left, one on the ground. The two men standing inside the cab are identified as "Leadbetter" and "J Hosie in Godber Album (Vol 108, p 62. PA1-q-101). Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1912 and 1949 at Lower Hutt. An original print from this image is in Godber Album Vol 108, p 62 (PA1-q-101) This image is reproduced in "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer & W W Stewart (p 100), which says where the photograph was taken. Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - Wg Loco 492. Cyls 14"x22". Driv. wheels 3'9". Steam pressure 200 lbs. Grate area 16.9 sq ft.
