Description: Views around the Taupo Tongariro area, including Mounts Ngaruahoe and Tongariro, Huka Falls, Aratiatia Rapids, Lake Taupo and Wairakei. There is one image of the Maori interior of Tom Ryan's whare, one of the Terraces Hotel at Lake Taupo, and others of various buildings at the Spa Hotel (Taupo), including the interior of the dining room. This building was the meeting house Te Tiki o Tamamutu, purchased by John Joshua (proprietor of the Spa Hotel) for use as a smoking room and dining room for the hotel guests. Several images show unidentified Maori women in posed groups, or working with flax, and in one case a woman using a treadle sewing machine. An unidentified man is seen, in several images, fishing at pools below the Aratiatia Rapids. Photographs taken by Auckland Star photographers around the turn of the 19th-20th century. Description: Colour transparency slides of New Zealand scenes, taken ca mid to late 1950s and 1960s by Peter Vaizey Conley. This set are taken in the North Island, chiefly coastal views. All are unidentified but the photographer has described this set as 'Picton to Days Bay', 'Muritai [Road, Lower Hutt?] to Wellington Airport', 'Hamilton to Ngaruawahia', 'Waihi Gorge to Tauranga', 'Whakatane to Rotorua', 'Russell to Bay of Islands,' 'Wairoa', and 'North Auckland to Ohope'. Includes: Views of a harbour, taken onboard a ship, possibly showing the Cook Strait and Malborough Sounds from the inter-island ferry. There are several views of an unidentified bay, possibly Days Bay, Eastbourne. Two slides of geothermal activity, Wairekei, Taupo District. Description: Photographs and postcards relating to Mary Helen Pugh (nee Ensor) when she nursed at Rotorua 1942 to 1943. Taken by unidentified photographers. Most prints inscribed on reverse, apparently by Mary Helen. - One set of prints show views of nurses with babies at a nursery. Also views of a group of nurses posing at a kitchen afternoon tea for a nursing sister, and two nurses at the gate to their home 'Casaloma' at 106 Arawa Street, Rotorua. Nurses include Sister Elwood with baby Yoko, B Holland with baby Elizabeth Cooper (at 3 months), E Mitchell with baby B Whatu (premature), Olive Bell, Sister Ford, and Ray McIntosh. - One set of prints show views of Ohinemutu; an interior view of St Faith's Church, a carved figure with a bell, tekoteko figure, carved doorway, and the refurbished Tamatekapua meeting house circa 1943. Also includes a pakeha woman standing underneath a carved gateway, and Guide Tiki (Dick) Papakura. - One set of prints show scenic views taken during cycling and recreational trips including: trees on Hongi's Track, Lake Rotomahana, Tarawera, Lake Rotokawa, Mokia Island on Lake Rotorua, the Green and Blue Lakes, Rainbow Rapids on Waikato River, various geothermal attractions at Orakei Korako, the Wishing Well, Aladdins Cave, Golden Fleece Terrace, Devils Throat, and Artist's Palette.
