Description: Group portrait showing Maori and European men together with Maori women and children, all wearing European style clothing, seated and standing on a shingle beach together with a dog and a shark. In the background are hills, dwellings and fences. The image is most likely from the summer of 1899, taken by an unidentified photographer. The fragment of manuscript the photograph is mounted on appears to be part of a journal documenting excursions around Whangarei Harbour in the summer of 1899, and makes specific reference to McLeod Bay and Urquharts Bay in the area. Description: Panoramic view of the Maori reception to the Duke and Duchess of York at Arawa Park, Rotorua in 1927, taken by Robert Percy Moore, of Wellington. It shows the arrival of the Duke and Duchess through a palm-lined arch on the far side of Arawa Park in the left middle distance. Two large groups of warriors are facing them, crouched ready to perform their welcome haka. A group of kaumatua and kuia wearing cloaks are seated on the ground in the foreground.
