Includes displays viewed and events attended by the royal couple, as well as travelling between towns by car and train. Places visited include: the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Wigram airport, Canterbury University, the view over Lyall Bay from Truby King's house, Dunedin war memorial and the war memorial at Waitaki Boys' High School, Government House in Wellington. Description: Photographs of leaders of the Girl Guide Association, Girl Guides, Brownies and Rangers, and various activities throughout New Zealand. The first pages show the move from old headquarter buildings in Hastings to new buildings in Christchurch, in September 1961. They include the transfer of equipment by truck and by air freight, and views of different aspects of the new premises. Later views show visiting Girl Guide leaders attending conferences and training courses; ceremonial occasions attended by Lord Cobham in 1962, and by Sir Bernard and Lady Fergusson. Lady Fergusson was the Dominion President during their term in New Zealand. One section of the album shows activities of Girl Guides and Brownies in the Cook Islands, and also in Western Samoa. A number of the camps were attended by Girl Guides from Pacific countries, with many of the Guides named in the album. Various activities undertaken by the Guides include the sale of Girl Guide biscuits, ANZAC Day commemorations, Thinking Day ceremonies, rallies, and the awards of special badges. Description: Photographs of the Royal visit in 1927 of the Duke and Duchess of York, taken by an unidentified photographer. None of the photographs have captions. Images include the royal entourage driving or travelling by train through New Zealand countryside in the South Island and the North Island; various ceremonies, welcoming crowds, a large group of nurses lining the steps up to a hospital, various dignitaries, and inspection of troops and police. Two photographs show the Royal camp at Tokaanu, and one shows rows of people seated at tables in the open air. A number of more personal images show the Duke and Duchess, the Duke outside smoking a pipe, the Duke at a racecourse with a trotting horse and sulky, and the Duke and Duchess fishing near Turangi. Description: Photographs of New Zealand scenes taken between circa 1890s and circa 1940s, chiefly by James Caleb Cornwall. Many images have a brief explanatory captions. Contains images including a kapa haka group performing on a barge, a building decorated for Royal [Coronation 1937?] with cameo portraits of George VI and Queen Elizabeth, animals at a zoo (pelican and [thar?]), a thermal area, and a bush scene. Transportation is featured, with photographs showing trains (locomotives and carriages, including a Fairlie locomotive) and railway architecture (train tracks and Main Trunk Line viaduct) as well as car and horse and cart scenes. Places and buildings include Hastings Main Street, Blenheim Memorial (clock tower and fountain), Palmerston North (including birds on pond [Domain?], a church, shops, and the main square), Arthurs Pass and Porters Pass, a Coromandel homestead, house and garden of Cara [Sawings?], and [Otago Settlers?] Museum, Dunedin.
