Description: Shows the Government Good Fairy speaking to a nervous Arthur Faulkner who is sitting in a pumpkin coach which is about to leave for the Kawerau mill on the hill in the background. This is a variation or pastiche of the Cinderella story. Original drawing for the cartoon published in the Dominion, 5 June 1975. Other Titles - Last week Cinders Faulkner was left behind to look after the industrial scene at the mill while the ugly sisters (Skinner Knox) went off to the Geneva Ball - alas! this week on the homefront there is still more trouble at the mill Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - Signed Quantity: 1 original cartoon(s). Description: A party in the 1860s in a large living room or ballroom. Mistletoe is attached to a chandelier, beneath which is a chair draped with bonnets. Behind the chair is a young soldier in hiding. Four rather plain-looking women are heading towards the lures on the chair, while two prettier women in the foreground have their backs to their would-be swain and any potential kissing under the mistletoe. The soldier may be intended to be a self-portrait and the ballroom may be in Auckland. There are large pictures on the walls, chairs and couches against the far wall, a grand piano and the chair in the centre along with a chaise-longue. They show - PM John Key doing his business behind a tree with the words 'Govt urged to stop the fouling of picnic spots'; a kangaroo with a fish in its pocket representing 'floods in OZ'; 'tennis on TV' being watched by a man with tennis balls for eyes; a kakapo saying 'My pleasure' to the news that 'Richard Henry who saved the kakapo from extinction has died!'; 'Potting mix being blamed for Legionnaire's disease' - a gardener dressed as a legionnaire stands to attention with his fork over his shoulder and a watering can in his hand; and 'Unplugged On Air to cut back on payouts to musicians' with a guitarist staring at his unplugged guitar.
