Description: Panoramic view looking up towards a large house [possibly a private hospital] on the left. Single-storeyed in part, two-storeyed wing on the left with verandahs downstairs. Two women are seen by the front entrance on the right, one seated on a step. Flower beds around the base of the building, including hydrangeas in flower. Established trees on a sloping lawn on the right of the house leading down to a drive curving up from centre right. Location unidentified. Photograph taken by Robert Percy Moore. Verandah visible on the left of the house. Decorative trim in the gables. Outbuildings through an arch on the right of the house. Newly planted shrubs in the lawn on the right, roses in beds in the right foreground. Large weeping willow on the right. Macrocarpa shelter belt in the background on the right, and on the far left. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. This sheet shows a sheep drover on horseback with a pack horse and two dogs herding a flock of sheep near Gisborne; a woman sitting on a tree stump overlooking Lake Taupo and the mountains; fumarole vents near Lake Taupo; the Chateau Tongariro on Mount Ruapehu; a man standing beside the Crater Lake on Ruapehu; Mount Ngauruhoe; a garden in New Plymouth; a distant view of the house "Tupare" near new Plymouth; Mount Egmont; views on the road to Tokaora; railway line running through the centre of Palmerston North; the Manawatu Gorge; a street in Masterton; the Wairarapa plains and sheep farms; a stand of cabbage trees; dry riverbed of the Putangirua River en route to the Putangirua Pinnacles, and a view of the Pinnacles. The slides are not in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks. Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of New Zealand images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England.
