Description: Topographic map of Kapiti Island with some described features and named vegetation. Includes the site of an anchorage adjacent to Motungarara Island and Kapiti Island. Ink blotches obliterate parts of the map Kapiti Island includes numerous Maori placenames and named streams. Pa sites and former Maori settlements are marked, as are whaling stations and a cavern, formerly a burial ground. Sites of mutton birds are marked as are water supplies, walking tracks, the site of an old homestead and old cultivations. Tokumapuna Island, 1.2.21 [acres] includes the site of the main whaling station and named rocks which are covered at high water are named. Description: Drawn on a base map of the Waipawa Borough, the annotations depict properties with block number, acreage, Crown grant reference numbers and names of purchasers. The properties vary in size from 10 to 30 acres, and are made up of several streets of suburban sized sections. The names are Robert Mixer Skeet, James Fougere, Thomas Dawson Triphook and Edward George Wright, Louis Noel Du Noyer, William Fannin, Frederick Sedgwick Abbott, Christopher Lockyer, Thomas Gill, Allan MacMaster, Algernon Gray Tollemache. See accompanying one page note entitled 'Schedule of persons who purchased from the Crown the lands comprised in the township of Waipawa'. Patangata Crown Grant District.' Description: The base map, from the New Zealand cadastral map Town Series, of Wellington city encompasses part of Island Bay Parade and Lyall Parade to Evans Bay to Kaiwharawhara to Wilton Road to Happy Valley Road. The City and County boundary is prominently marked, as is the Registration District boundary. Suburbs are named. Reclaimed land is shown. Wharves and waterfront buildings are named. The Wellington Harbour and Corporation Land Act 1880 is referred to. Annotations to this map are areas of Maori reserves, referred to in a key. The largest area is between Waripori Street, Rintoul Street, a reserve and Adelaide Road, Russell Terrace and Florence Street. Several small reserve areas are marked in Newtown and Berhampore. Description: Topographic map of the area from the Wanganui River near Petania, includes parts of the Ongarue River and Main Trunk Line, the Punui and Waikato rivers, Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira. Names of rivers, some mountain ranges and settlements are included. Rohe Potae (i.e. King Country) land, in the Taupo Ruapehu districts, claimed by the Ngati Maniapoto and that awarded to Ngati Tuwharetoa are divided by a boundary line and referred to in key. 'Maniapoto' and 'Tuwharetoa' are written across their respective land. Description: A collection of map information from various sources from 1858-1892. The maps no. 1-6 and 8 contain information from Native Land Court plans of the 1880's, Survey Office road plans, Lands and Survey's first amendment (Mr Cussen's topographical survey), a map by S. Percy Smith, and the Sub-Atlas committee. The information has been added in different pens and hand writing eg "Plan marked from Hokianga" or "no track here shown by Mr Cussen". The map marked no. 7 shows military information from the New Zealand wars eg "Troops to be sent to Waikaremoana via Ahikereru - Ruatahuna Huiarau from Taupo". Shows some native tracks eg "from Heruiwi" and corrections or previous omissions. Map no. 9 shows tracks on N.L.C. plans, one of which "is away at the Court". The maps show very little signs of any settlement, except No. 3 and 6 "Tapuaeharuru Pa" and "Te Pueto Stn". A mission station, a native settlement and a school are also indicated. The maps cover the region from Hokianga, Kawhia Harbour, Mokau River, Waikato River, Tirau, Taupo to Rotorua on maps 1-6, 8 and Rotorua to Waikaremoana to Poverty Bay on maps 7 and [9]. All maps depict rivers. Map 7 and [9] are maps with annotations. They are on the published base map "Four-mile sheet, No. 10" (Wellington, New Zealand Lands and Surveys, 1935).
