Description: Two men stare in bafflement at a series of signs and symbols on the floor of a cathedral that represents 'Fonterra'. One of them says 'I solved the Da Vinci code but there's no way I can decipher this milk pricing. Context: In March, the commission began investigations into whether it should make a formal inquiry into the price of milk, under Part 4 of the Commerce Act, which regulates markets with little competition and little likelihood of an increase in competition. But Fonterra has now welcomed the Commerce Commission's decision not to make an inquiry into the price of milk. The Commission is, however, still investigating claims that dairy giant Fonterra is misusing its market power. Chief executive Andrew Ferrier was in Palmerston North to talk to Fonterra Research Centre staff yesterday and said the milk price was set fairly, and Fonterra was happy to expose its price setting to any parliamentary select committee.
