Description: A large two to three storied watermill in the Ngaio Gorge, with its water wheel on the left and water rushing through. The roofs of two other houses with smoke rising from the brick chimney of one, visible in front and a path to the right. A dam and a small lake can be seen behind the mill. Attribution on stylistic grounds The mill was built in Ngaio Gorge, in the 1840s and 1850s, where the Mobil petrol tanks are now located, about half way up the Gorge. Description: Shows a view along the Wellington shoreline, looking north. Part of Barrett's Hotel is shown on the extreme left, beside a classical revival building. There are shops in the distance. A red-coated soldier leans against the door to Barrett's Hotel. A small rowboat is in the sea to the right of the road Title on engraved plate on frame. Artist attributed because of similarity of subject to Holmes' "Wellington Beach 1856" (A-032-040). The work is not as finished as that one however. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour, 241 x 343 mm (sight) Provenance: Prior to that in the collection of Mr Charles Levin of Sanson, descendant of W. H. Levin.

Description: Attributed to William Howard Homes on stylistic grounds. Shows Mathieson and Schultze's flourmill to the right with a red-cloaked man leading a horse along Old Porirua Road on the left. Wellington Harbour can be seen in the distance, the building on the near-side of the harbour is possibly the Rainbow Hotel. Matiu / Somes Island and Wellington City are also shown. Description: A narrow stream surrounded by high hills, tree ferns and other vegetation. The name Tralinock is no longer current in the Hutt Valley and has not been traced, but the appearance of the site suggests an area in the Western or Eastern hills. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
