By: Heaphy, Charles, 1820-1881

See overleaf. C.Heaphy. Verso - top of page: Sketch of North West cliff Brown's Island, Thames. The beds slightly inclined to the left are of basaltic ash, and the cliff appears to be a section of the outer or ring crater. The beds above, inclining to the right [left crossed out] seem to be the remains of strata formerly lying on those first described, but which had slid towards the point of irruption on a collapse taking place. The sea has breached the whole northern coast of the island. C.H. 2/12/67. Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Physical Description: Sepia ink on paper 254 x 355 mm
