Description: Looking south along a sandy beach with cliffs in the distance, north of Wanganui. A group of soldiers is swimming in the sea in the distance, with several others standing on the beach. In the foreground, a team of bullocks is hauling a dray with firewood, led by several men up a track towards the military camp, visible on the hilltop on the left. In the foreground is Mowhanau Stream, near Kai Iwi A copy of an original by Hamley's superior officer, E. A. Williams 'Camp. Alexander's Farm. Jany. 20 1865'. Williams' original is in the Hocken Library. The men in the sea are too distant to be obvious in the original Other Titles - Camp. Alexander's Farm.
