Description: An extensive view across the lake, with steam vents in the foreground and above the Pink Terraces in the middle distance. Small islands can be seen in the lake. The view is taken at sunrise or sunset. Mount Tarawera is in the background, to the left The view, dated 1894, records the appearance of the Pink Terraces and the Lake before the eruption of Mount Tarawera on 10 June 1886.
