Description: Exhibition certificate awarded to artist John Gully including vignettes around the edges, surrounded with leaves. At the bottom are the figures of two women seated either side of a coat of arms with the motif `Advance New Zealand' beneath. Description: Certificate shows an arrangement of text, with a dove of peace at the top, and two seated angels flanking the Holy Bible at the bottom. At the sides are New Zealand scenes: Maori beside a lake with tree fern at the left, and at right a church and cabbage tree in front of a snowy mountain, possibly Mt Taranaki. Denomination may be Presbyterian or Methodist. Other certificates awarded to Mary McKenzie include some from the New Zealand Methodist Sunday School Union, but there is also published evidence that the Otago Sunday School Union may have been linked to the Presbyterian Church. It may have been interdenominational. Quantity: 1 colour art print(s). Physical Description: Chromolithograph on card, 310 x 250 mm. Provenance: Purchased from Hobsons, Wellington, in 2007.
