Description: Trans Tasman rowers find themselves high and dry on top of a container. Refers to news that Team Gallagher members James Blake, Andrew McCowan and Nigel Cherrie passed under the Auckland Harbour Bridge on 20th January after crossing the Tasman. Team member team member Martin Berka was dropped off in the Bay of Plenty. The crossing took 59 days because of very rough weather. It refers also to the problem of containers from the wreck of the Rena floating in the sea and the ongoing work of unloading remaining containers from the ship. Description: The cartoon shows the wreck of the container ship 'Rena' lying on the ocean bottom. A fish swimming by says it is not the Rena but the Ports of Auckland. Context: Salvors are now removing containers and debris from the Rena which is aground on the Astrolabe Reef off Tauranga and there is discussion about the possibility of the wreck being used as a diving attraction. Maersk Line announced today its permanently shifting its Southern Star container shipping service from Auckland to Tauranga -which will be good for rail.
