Description: Shows a group of houses in middle distance, at the foot of a hill, beyond a narrow foreground road (later Hastings Street) and a tussock-covered plain. There are also two smaller buildings near the top of the hill. The caption identifies the lower row of houses along the street as, from left R. Colenso - Registered Deeds Office, Harris, Tiffen, the Herald Office, T. Anderson, Sealy, Rev. Marshall, and on the far right, the Lands Office.. Exhibited in 'Wide-Eyed: Early Images of New Zealand' exhibition of works by settler artists, held at the National Library of New Zealand Gallery, 18 July - 9 November 1997.
