Description: Correspondence and papers on Maori Land Court disputes (often in Maori); politics and politicians; ornithology; Maori genealogies and ethnology. Papers of the Blue Spur and Gabriel's Gully Consolidated Gold Mining Company 1866-1899. W Leo Buller's correspondence re the gift of Buller's Maori collection to the nation, 1911-1914. Family papers, land deed certificates, clippings. The Maori letters arise mainly from Buller's law practice and deal mainly with land court work. Some of the earlier letters are probably to his father, James Buller. A H Turnbull and Elsdon Best both appear to have worked on the letters. Best did not apparently find them useful to his research, but they will be useful to anyone interested in land matters in the Manawatu and Horowhenua areas.
