Description: A river valley and clearing in native bush, with tree ferns in the foreground, the elevated rock formation of Castle Rock in the background. There are logs by the river and some cleared, some bush-clad hills, suggesting the beginnings of forest clearance The second Blomfield oil purchased from Cordy's as a pair to this oil, dated 1878, and showing a distinctive rock formation, was sold as being a Coromandel scene like this one.
