Description: Comprises collection of Edward Stuart Bibby, including family papers and photographs as well as material collected over a life of community service and collected for historical research. Includes papers relating to the Bibby family's farm, Lunesdale, near Ongaonga; also material on Waipawa and Southern Hawkes Bay history. Includes family correspondence; farm diaries; newspaper clippings; reminiscences; farm financial records; shearing tallies; records of the Bibby Store; letters, photographs, and other documentation from E S Bibby and other family members serving in World War One; records of the Waipawa Methodist church and Waipawa School; and papers concerning Ongaonga and Waipawa history. Also includes photographs of Bibby family members and relations, family occasions, views of family properties, and views of Waipawa and Ongaonga. Title supplied by Library. Detailed scope and contents lists in item records have been taken from the donor's inventory. Arrangement: The collection was sorted and listed by the family before depositing it with the Library. Some of the material was organised by E S Bibby and Claire Bibby at the time of writing the book 'Lunesdale, a bush farm community since 1871'. Many of the papers were delivered to the Library in envelopes labelled by subject, which sometimes included both family material and the results of E S Bibby's historical research. The series relating to World War One was created in 2013 when that specific material was described in more detail. The further grouping into series was done by the archivist at the time of re-processing in 2021, with reference to the donor's original listing headings. Processing information: This collection was re-processed in 2021 to incorporate information from the donor's extensive inventory, and to reunite the photographs and papers into one collection. At that time the collection reference number was changed from MS-Group-2216 to ATL-Group-00541. Some items descriptions had been updated earlier, in October 2020. Most recent accrual to this collection is currently being processed by staff.
